Today, our headquarters occupies a building with a rich history of its own, once a working factory and now the home of Certified Construction. While the building and the surrounding neighborhood have evolved through the decades, our core values remain unchanged: exceptional quality, trusted relationships, and a dedication to creating spaces that stand the test of time.
Built from the Ground Up
Michael Borrico began his career at HRH Construction, where he spent four years managing high-rise development projects and learning the construction business from the ground up. In 1986, he set out to build his own company, formally establishing Certified Construction in 1987 with a clear focus on craftsmanship, accountability, and exceptional client service.
Under Michael’s leadership, Certified grew from its roots in high-end residential construction into a full-service general contracting and construction management firm serving residential, commercial, and hospitality clients throughout New York City. From detailed renovations and restorations to major additions and new construction, the company has built its reputation by delivering quality work, maintaining strong relationships, and meeting the demands of every project with professionalism and care.
Nearly four decades later, Michael continues to lead Certified with the same principles on which the company was founded: integrity, trust, teamwork, and a commitment to exceeding client expectations. Those values have shaped a company culture built around talented people, long-standing relationships, and a shared dedication to creating spaces that stand the test of time.
